The HNC in Construction Management covers building and quantity surveying,construction management and creates an entry pathway into the technical,professional management roles in construction.

The HNC provides an academically rigorous introduction to the design, function, construction and statutory requirements of buildings. The programme explores construction technology, materials, building conversion and adaptation, and site engineering, enabling candidates to develop the technical knowledge and understanding required for progression within the construction and built environment sector.

The course covers 8 modules and is delivered online at the candidate’s own pace. Qualifications take 12-18 months, with fortnightly evening online classes that are interactive to maximise learning without the need to travel to a place of learning.

Assessment on the HNC is internally assessed and quality assured in line with Pearson requirements. Achievement is based on successful completion of unit assessments.

Candidates are required to:

  • Complete unit-based assignments set by Skills4Stem, which may include written reports, case studies, presentations, and applied project work.
  • Demonstrate understanding of technical knowledge and academic skills relevant to the construction and built environment sector.
  • Meet published assignment deadlines and engage in feedback and assessment review opportunities.
  • Participate in taught sessions, workshops, and guided independent study to support assessment completion.

Assessment is designed to support progression by developing analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional reporting skills aligned to industry practice.
